Altar de São Miguel Arcanjo

O Altar de São Miguel Arcanjo erigido em finais do séc. 18, aproveitando  para peça central da devoção, uma imagem esculpida adquirida pela confraria de São Miguel da Sé em finais do séc. 17 a uma oficina continental portuguesa. Trata-se de um exemplar de São Miguel Arcanjo, apresentando indumentária de guerreiro, com o seu capacete emplumado, sandálias com caneleiras, aos quais não faltam os seus atributos principais a balança de pesar as almas e a espada.

Nos nichos laterais as esculturas dos irmãos mártires protetores dos sapateiros, São Crispim e São Crispiniano, de madeira estofada policromada e dourada que pertencem à confraria de São Miguel.

Atualmente foi colocada a imagem de Nossa Senhora do Coromoto, padroeira da Venezuela, sobre o altar. 

The altar of St. Michael Archangel was built in the late 18th century, displaying as centrepiece of devotion, a carved image acquired by the Confraternity of St. Michael in the late 17th century, from a Portuguese workshop. This is a copy of upholstered, polychromed and gilded wood of St. Michael the Archangel, featuring a warrior outfit, with its feathered helmet, sandals with shin pads, but the main attributes are missing: the scales to weigh the souls and the sword. The confraternity of Saint Michael had already been created in 1572.

In the side niches the sculptures of the martyred brothers, St. Crispim (fig. 98) and St. Crispiniano, protectors of cobblers, in upholstered, polychromed and gilded wood that belonged to the Confraternity of St. Michael, must have been commissioned to a regional workshop during the late 17th century.
